BRISSAUD (Pierre) - BALZAC (Honoré de). Eugénie Grandet. New edition. Paris: A. Blaizot, René Kieffer, 1913. - In-4, 296 x 210: frontispiece, (2 ff.), 182 pp, (2 ff.), 3 plates, printed cover. Eggplant morocco, engraved steel plate inlaid on boards, smooth spine, wide eggplant morocco frame with gilt fillet, gray moiré silk lining and endpapers, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, bordered slipcase (period binding). Edition of 250 copies on Rives wove paper, illustrated with 30 color etchings by painter Pierre BRISSAUD (1885-1964), including 4 hors texte and 26 in the text. One of 30 copies with a triple suite of illustrations (in color with remarks, in black with remarks and pure etching with remarks). A very fine copy in contemporary binding, with the two steel plates used for the illustrations on pages 71 and 137, and the prospectus showing the book's publisher's binding, produced in the workshops of René Kieffer. Cracking at the hinge of the first cover.
