Havana morocco, boards decorated with two wide vertical bands of vat paper combed with a lattice of lines in brown tones, smooth spine, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, edged slipcase (A. Lobstein).
First illustrated edition of 225 copies, with 33 copper engravings by painter and engraver Hermine DAVID (1886-1970), including 10 hors texte and 23 in the text.
ONE OF 25 FIRST COPIES ON IMPERIAL JAPON, including a suite of engravings on the same paper and a rejected plate in two states.
A very fine copy bound by Alain Lobstein (1927-2005).
