Paris: Jules Renouard, 1829. - 5 volumes in-8, red half-maroquin with corners, gilded fillets, ornate ribbed spine, gilded head, untrimmed (Alfred Farez). Cohen, 369-370. Third edition published by Jules Renouard, printed by Paul Renouard and edited by Antoine-Augustin Renouard, of this important anthology of medieval literary texts compiled by the historian and curator of French manuscripts at the Bibliothèque Nationale, Pierre Jean-Baptiste Legrand d'Aussy (1737-1800). This edition is based on Legrand d'Aussy's extensively corrected and enlarged copy of the 1781 edition, which was in the possession of Antoine-Augustin Renouard (cat. 1854, no. 3632). Each volume is divided into two parts, the second of which contains the original versions of the texts presented in the first. Copy on large wove paper, including the plates in two states, one before the letter on glued chine paper and the other on wove paper. Rubbing to spine and corners, a few minor scuff marks, snags to 2 headpieces. Some rare marginal foxing.
