GRAMMAIRE
MAYR Georges, Institutiones Linguae Hebraicae, in sex partes distributae. Augsburg, Mangius, 1616, one vol. small in 8°, full white vellum, double fillet framed in cold on the boards, smooth spine with handwritten title, speckled edges. A fine copy in contemporary binding of the original edition, dedicated to Cardinal Bellarmin, of this unusual Hebrew grammar written by a Jesuit. Provenance: handwritten ex libris on the title of the Chartreuse de Buxia (Buxheim) with ex dono from "l'excellentissime musicien" Philippe Zindelin (Sommervogel, V, 816, no. 8; Furst II, 336). The donor, Phillip Zindelin (Constance 1570-Augsburg 1622), was one of the leading instrumentalists and composers of the pivotal period between Renaissance and Baroque in southern Germany, author of several collections of religious music published between 1609 and 1612.
