Emperor Napoleon I vest. - Lot 32
Emperor Napoleon I vest.
Closes with 11 covered buttons, in white piqué cotton, with a small collar with a cut point and two false pockets. Back in fine ivory canvas with four laces.
B.E. (Rust stains).
Provenance:
Sale Versailles, Hôtel Rameau, Maître Blache, auctioneer, November 22, 1981, lot n°88.
With copy of Madame Jarosson's typed certificate (circa 1980):
"I certify that this vest belonged to Emperor Napoleon I and was brought back from St. Helena by General Count Bertrand, grand marshal of the palace. It then became the property of his son, Viscount Henry Bertrand, who bequeathed it to his adopted daughter Mlle Junot d'Abrantès, vicomtesse de la Ferrière, my own grandmother".
The Jarossons were indeed related to the Junot family, via Monique ARTAUD de La FERRIÈRE (1884-1957).
