Jean Cocteau's play La Voix humaine premiered at the Comédie-Française on February 17, 1930. Berthe Bovy gave a gripping solo performance, which she recorded the same year. In 1958, Francis Poulenc set Cocteau's play to music. Luis de La Rocha began his painting studies in Madrid, finishing them in Paris, where he settled in 1910. He worked extensively for the theater (sets and costumes) in the 1930s, notably for Gaston Baty.
