Robert de MONTESQUIOU. 5 L.A.S., [1916], to a "dear colleague"; 14pages in-4 or in-8.
Organization of a conference about his Offrandes blessées. An attached handwritten announcement states that this "national conference" is to take place at the Théâtre Sarah Bernhardt on December 20, and that some poems will be read by Ida Rubinstein.
He objected to the planned program: "I don't want anyone to speak about me, I'm the one speaking, to express the emotion of my mind and heart. [...] I authorize you to reply to people who would tell you that I am a recluse, that they should stick their cardboard finger in their glass eye"... - He refuses any accessories, other than a desk covered with a neutral-toned carpet, and a desk; he indicates the layout. - He requests an official convocation to avoid any misunderstanding... etc.
Attached is a L.A.S. to a lady (Ida Rubinstein?), ironizing on the "glorious malaise of our manager", and hoping to give the lecture again "one day when I have my two wings, and not this big paletot; then we'll see the difference between Phaéton and Azraël"... (2p. in-8 on purple paper).
