ANDRÉ METTHEY (1871-1920) Bird frieze Circular bonbonnière; the base is rounded, the lid domed and topped with a bird in the round forming a grip. Glazed ceramic proof; the birds are treated in cracked white on a mustard background richly enhanced with kiln-fired gold and punctuated with blue floral motifs in relief. The interior is gold-plated before firing. Signed with the engraved circular monogram stamp AM au trèfle under the base.
