Alphonse MUCHA (1860-1939) Zodiac - Variant with calendar Chromolithography. Uncoated. Signed in the composition lower right. Imp. Champenois, Paris. 64.5 x 48.5 cm Bibliography : Rennert / Weill, Mucha, Zodiaque no. 9, variant 2, p. 101, but before the title La Plume, une curiosité. Deschamps commissioned the ubiquitous Champenois, who had Mucha under contract, to produce a version of the "Zodiaque" image in which he had his name copied to make a calendar... which he of course sold to his collectors! Our copy is before the letter, a rarity that Champenois and Deschamps had made a specialty of!
