RIVEY (Claude). - Lot 37
RIVEY (Claude). Supplique très-respectueuse présentée à l'Assemblée Nationale, par Claude Rivey, artiste et mécanicien. Paris : Roland, 1790. - In-4 square, 236 x 188 : (1 f.), 24 pp. Bradel half ivory vellum, black cloth with full title (V. Fonlupt). Extremely rare supplication from a Lyonnais inventor of weaving looms, named Claude Rivey (1740-1831), asking the National Assembly for "an indemnity proportionate to the services he has rendered & can still render to the State" as well as a "pension that will enable him to support his family". The document presents, with supporting documents, three of the engineer's inventions: a floral knitting loom, a new loom for brocaded fabrics and a new loom for shaped fabrics of all kinds. An interesting document.
