LEFORT (active 1791-1816) Half-body portrait of a man facing left in a brown suit with large metal button scale and blue vest, powdered hair and ear ring, circa 1791-1795. Miniature on oval ivory. Signed on the left: Lefort. Sight 5.7 x 4.7 cm; burnished wood frame rect. 11.5 x 10.2 cm (stains; frame split at top). A painter of miniatures, Lefort exhibited ten of his works at the Salon de la Jeunesse in 1791, and by 1816 was established in rue des Fossés-du-Temple, Paris. His miniatures are very rare today.
