The model of this small bronze depicting Bacchus was long attributed to Francesco da Sant'Agata or to a late 16th-century Florentine workshop influenced by Cellini, then to the corpus of Barthélémy Prieur. Recently, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, which holds a copy, considered it to be Florentine of the 16th-17th centuries.
