Florentine school circa 1620, workshop of Cristofano ALLORI Judith holding the head of Holofernes Canvas Fesch' frame from the 1830s with oves and flowers On the reverse of the frame, a label with the following inscriptions: "galerie de son Eminence / le cardinal Feche (sic) / n°80 . 3 500 / Judith holding the head of Holofernes / by Christofano Allori"; on the reverse of the stretcher, Charles-René Bérot's black wax stamp. 131 x 95 cm Old restorations Provenance : Collection of Cardinal Fesch ; Probably sold in Rome in 1843; Probably Charles-René Bérot collection, notary in Caen in the mid-19th century (according to his black wax on the reverse of the stretcher). Its brass seal is preserved in the Musée Carnavalet; identical to the seal here. From the composition by Cristofano Allori in Palazzo Pitti
