Porcelain jug decorated in the green family palette, China, Kangxi period (1662-1722) Baluster-shaped, decorated with a large narrative design painted in polychrome enamels and enhanced with black lines. The body of the vase features an aristocratic garden scene where several elegant ladies, accompanied by young maids and numerous children, stand on a terrace bordered by a balustrade opening onto a landscape. The children play various games, while one of them contemplates a large pond filled with goldfish, the traditional motif of abundance. The figures, dressed in long dresses with floral and geometric motifs, are arranged around garden elements such as openwork rocks, flowering shrubs and trees with stylized foliage, while stylized coral-red clouds enliven the background. An opening known as a moon door reveals two figures inside a pavilion, enriching the narrative character of the scene. The shoulder is decorated with a frieze of ruyi heads, geometric and Greek motifs, punctuated by medallions featuring precious objects. The neck is adorned with a frieze of auspicious objects, symbols of longevity and good fortune. The base is highlighted by a geometric border and alternating green and red vertical bands completing the decorative ensemble. The iconography evokes the traditional theme of children playing in a garden, a symbol of family prosperity and numerous descendants. Height: approx. 36 cm Formerly mounted as a lamp, fels, restorations.
