Historical background:
Pierre Paulin was the first designer to be invited by the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres to create a dinner service. In 1987, he designed the so-called Paulin service, featuring octagonal plates and dishes in white soft porcelain, with geometrically embossed marlis patterns - and eggplant marli for the presentation plate. However, the service was only produced in very limited quantities from 1996 onwards, and was the only new-form service to be produced by the Manufacture since the second half of the 20th century.
