Collection of thirteen tales illustrated by the Chanteau brothers in handsome historiated boards. Paul Bourget, a prolific author, brings together here several of his tales (Aline, Le Talisman, Le Frère de M. Viple...); in addition to his work for young people, the academician also produced numerous essays, poems and plays. In reaction to the naturalist novel epitomized by Emile Zola, Bourget tended towards a narrative focused on the psychology of his characters, and was a great success with the younger generation of his time. A pleasant copy.
