In-folio, havana half-basin with corners bordered by a double cold fillet, spine with raised bands underlined by a gilt fillet and framed in cold, gilt title on blond leather, gilt "S.M." at foot. 20 pages (introduction) and 80 plates of black & white photographs, all mounted on tabs. Some black & white illustrations in the text. Title page printed in black and red. Binding rubbed and slightly missing. First edition. An important monograph devoted to the Hôtel de Beauharnais, a masterpiece of the Empire style, now the headquarters of the German Embassy in Paris. It includes 80 plates of black-and-white photographs covering virtually all elements of the Embassy's architecture, furniture and interior decoration. The plates are preceded by an introduction presenting a historical and architectural study of the hotel, and a descriptive table of the plates. A solid copy, complete with plates, in very good condition.
