Published in Paris by Administration de librairie in 1844. 6 volumes in 4 volumes in-8, eggplant half-basin, spines with false-nerves underlined by a gilt frieze, cold fleurons and gilt and cold fillets to the entrenerfs, titling in gold lettering, speckled edges. T1/2: 244 pages and 2 plates; 350-(1) pages and 2 plates; T3/4: 326-(1) and 437-(1) pages; T5/6: 344 pages and 5 plates; 337-(1) pages and 3 plates including 1 frontispiece, a total of 12 hors-texte steel-engraved plates. Rubbing, one headband damaged, slight scuffing to boards, spine in the process of detaching on volume 1/2 (seams loose on first board). Some foxing, more present in volumes 1/2. New edition of this historical study of the Bastille, from its foundation in 1374 to its destruction in 1789, with 12 magnificent steel engravings, including the frontispiece in volume 6, most of which are preserved in serpents. Series incomplete (volumes 7 and 8 are missing). A good, uniform set for this history of the famous Parisian fortress.
