Tarlier between 1824 and 1828. 10 volumes in-8, half Russian green leather, smooth spines decorated with double gilt filets, author, title and tomaison in gilt letters, paper boards with raciné decoration. Contemporary binding. Approx. 500 pages per volume, 85 engravings under serpents. All rubbed, some spines faded, one headband off and one spine partially split. Some foxing and browning. Fourth edition of this important study of the history of Paris, from the earliest historical times to the publication of the work, by the French historian Jacques-Antoine Dulaure. It describes, in chronological order, the city's successive growths and its ancient and modern monuments, all its institutions, both civil and religious, as well as its mores, customs and the progress of civilization. This fourth edition features 85 plates of engravings depicting the capital's main monuments and buildings. Complete work in 10 volumes in composite editions: fourth edition for volumes 1 to 9, second edition, published in 1824, for the table volume (Volume 10). A good, homogeneous set for this richly illustrated history of Paris.
