In 8 volumes in-8, full midnight-blue glazed calf, spines with gilt frieze, cold fleurons and gilt decoration on the entrenerfs, titling in gold lettering, cold floral decoration in a cold and gilt frame on the boards, gilt fillet on the edges, speckled edges. Contemporary binding.

The author covers landscapes, architecture, monuments, streets and geographical evolution, as well as political institutions and administrative organization, manners, customs, religions, culture and the arts. This first edition includes 4 fold-out maps and plans and 85 engraved plates depicting the capital's main monuments and buildings. Complete set in 8 volumes, including the supplement volume published in 1825.
