EIFFEL, Gustave. La Tour de 300 mètres. Published in Paris by J.F. Guyot in 1989. Two folio volumes, one of text, the other of plates mounted on tabs. Publisher's full green chagrin binding, 5 false ribbed spine, gold lettering, gilt head, in an anodized and milled aluminum slipcase, featuring the aesthetics of the tower. Text volume: 8 ff.n.ch. (false title, justification, title, table), 368 pp. 4 ff.n.ch. (conclusion, signatures and autographs), 13 pp. (appendix), 1 ff.n.ch. (completed printing), with 253 in-text figures, title in black and red adorned with a vignette of the tower. Plate volume: 53 lithographed double plates (some in color), numbered I to XLVII, 13 plates of four-color intaglio proofs and a map of the environs of Paris showing the points visible from the top of the tower. Slight rubbing and scratches. Interior intact. Luxurious reprint of this work by Gustave Eiffel, presenting the various phases in the construction of the eponymous Tower, from its origins to its opening to the public. The original was published in 1900 by Imprimeries Lemercier. The appendix to the text volume contains a note on Gustave Eiffel's work and the main structures built by his company between 1867 and 1890, as well as a reproduction of the signatures and autographs of illustrious figures taken from the Tower's visitors' books. Limited edition of 600 copies on papier chiffon, the only large paper, this being no. 13. A fine copy of this prestigious reprint published to mark the centenary of the famous Tower.
