In-4, havana half-chagrin with corners edged with double gilt fillet, spine with false-nerves highlighted with gilt stippling, decorated with a floral composition on a squared background with gilt motifs (roosters, fleurs de lys, phyrigian bonnets, bees), author and title in gilt lettering, gilt head, contemporary binding. 412 pages, 1 etched frontispiece, 24 off-text lithographs including 7 in color, and 250 B&W drawings in the text. Spine slightly faded, rubbing with slight loss to spines and corners, a few scratches to boards, a few freckles to title and frontispiece serpente, frontispiece flying. First edition of this history of Paris, with numerous drawings and lithographs by the famous illustrator Albert Robida (1848-1926).
