In folio format. Full red percaline, smooth spine flowered and titled, coat-of-arms of Paris gilded on first cover in a frame with gilded corner irons (fleur-de-lys, phrygian bonnet, imperial eagle and Gallic cockerel); cold decoration on second cover. Contemporary binding.
IV and approx. 200 pages (unpaginated), numerous black engravings in and out of text, including some double-page engravings and a folding plate (Louis XIV's entry into Paris), title in historiated frame, ornamented lettrines.
Rubbing, beginning of split at upper head, faded boards and spine, corners worn. Some foxing to first and last leaves, very rare throughout.
First edition of Édouard Drumont's study of national festivities in Paris, giving the history and description of 45 festivities, from the Entrée d'Isabeau de Bavière to the festivities of the 1878 Exposition.
