Amusing, friendly correspondence illustrated with numerous pen-and-ink drawings, some watercolors. Biot tells his friend (who lives in Cannes) about his life in Paris: musical sessions with friends, shows, readings (including Zola), excursions, a fan sent to the 1879 Salon, theatrical news (Sarah Bernhardt), and so on.
