Raoul DUFY (1877-1953). L.A.S., Perpignan November 15, 1943; 3pages in-8 (framed, with scotch tape and small accident on 2nd page). He sends his correspondent good wishes for the recovery of his health: "No doubt that by scrupulously following your cure, your health and strength will return and enable you to resume your studies begun at the Beaux-Arts. I also hope you have a vocation. Painting requires the kind of faith that overturns mountains. In my youth, anyone who embarked on such a career was not well regarded, and the poorer they were, the more they had to convince themselves that they would stay that way. I don't think that's changed today. What cannot change, however, is the vigor of the struggle with oneself and against others. But the joy of our profession is the constant work it demands, sometimes with an intimate reward"...
