To his librettist, whose La Neige he had twice reread: "I am delighted with this work, and I believe in its success, which tells you how much I desire to have my share of it, but in order for me to deserve it, I must make a few changes, as we agreed"... [It was Auber who set the music for La Neige ou le Nouvel Eginhard, by Scribe and Germain Delavigne, which premiered at the Opéra-Comique on October 8, 1823].
