NAPLES. FEDERICO I (1451-1504) King of Naples, last of the Aragonese dynasty. L.S. "Rex Federigo", Naples Castel Nuovo July 1, 1501, to his advisor Nicolo Franci; countersigned by 3 chancellors; 1page folio, addressed (address leaf split); in Italian.
Rare letter concerning the Neapolitan church of Santa Caterina a Formiello.
He granted the monastery of "Scta Catherina de Formello" in perpetuity to the friars of the Lombardy congregation ("congregatione de Lombardia"), together with the street, wall and tower. It indicates the work to be done for the construction of the "strata nova" and the "lavinaro", and for the extension to be carried out by the prior and the brothers to enlarge their monastery, with the vacant land touching the garden of the Count of Magdaloni, and the houses of "Mastro Russo" and "Madama Loysa de Lagno". He entrusts this work to "Mastro Portulano"...
2 L.S. from John ACTON, Naples 1779-1803.
