The Adventures of Telemachus.
Paris: Imprimerie de Monsieur, 1785. - 2 volumes in-4, scaly calf, gilt roulette framing the boards, ornate ribbed spine, inner gilt roulette, gilt edges (period binding).
A very fine typographical edition printed in a limited edition under the direction of Pierre Français Didot on wove paper, designed to contain the suite of figures drawn in 1771 by Charles Monnet (1732-1819) and engraved in 1773 by Jean-Baptiste Tilliard (1740-1813).
It includes a frontispiece engraved by François Montulay, 24 plates for the summaries, each adorned with a frame and a cul-de-lampe, and 72 fine out-of-text engravings by Tilliard after Monnet.
Copy in contemporary binding, including all initialled engravings.
Worn and missing headpieces, cracked hinge, dull corners. Some scattered foxing.
