First edition of this work, which provides a physical, geographical, historical and commercial overview of the Baltic Sea, offering "general insights into the whole of northern Europe". Its author, historian and geographer Jean-Pierre Catteau-Calleville (1759-1819), made several trips to this part of the world.
The edition is enhanced by a large fold-out map of the Baltic Sea, and also includes three fold-out tables in the second volume.

Fine copy in contemporary binding.
