[WORLD WAR II - PHOTOGRAPHS]
Strassfurt Camp. Photos taken at the time of liberation.
Photographs of the infirmary, the entrance to the salt mine, the barracks, the factory, the small Buchenwald camp, the latrines, the site where bodies were left, as well as a former prisoner reenacting the torture inflicted on a recaptured escapee, etc.
6 x 8 cm (21), 10 x 7 cm (1)
The Strassfurt camp held 458 French nationals and 35 refugees from France. The camp’s population consisted mainly of French nationals.

Given their shocking nature or the fact that they violate human dignity, we have decided not to reproduce certain photos or documents. However, these photos were taken and published to serve as evidence of the crimes committed by the Nazis. Some were even taken by the camp liberators and distributed by the Ministry of Information. We therefore believe it is important that they continue to serve this purpose and bear witness to the suffering endured by the Jewish people. These photos will be made available only upon request.
