Very interesting set of 15 pages of China from the classical - Lot 27
Very interesting set of 15 pages of China from the classical period to the 1960s Cultural Revolution.
Especially noteworthy is 1 superb letter with mixed postage China / France. On the front n°97 "25c noir sur rose sage", on the reverse 3 n°5, "3 candarins lilas" dragons. The mail leaves Shanghai on June 20, 1894. On verso, transit stamp "I. G. of Customs Peking" and on arrival French postmark "Paris Poste restante" (July 1894). The letter is addressed to the Legatie de Chine in Paris. The red band is typical of official mail, here from the Qing government, of Mandarin type.
The other pages contain mint and cancelled stamps from "treaty - ports", including no. 1 from Hankow. We'd like to mention n°9, 12, 14 and the overprinted ones, the Dragons, the twentieth-century years and a few end-of-catalogues.
