Three Works by Władysław ŚLEWIŃSKI (1854-1918) from the Primel-Buffetaud collection - lots 10 to 12
Władysław Ślewiński was the only Pole in the Pont-Aven school. Madame Władysława Jaworska, a great specialist in the artist, discovered the existence of the Primel-Buffetaud collection in 1962. As she explains in her catalog published in 1983, this remarkable collection brought together around 170 canvases, almost all of which came directly from the artist's studio. The Primel family maintained a friendly relationship with the Slewinski couple; after the death of her husband, Eugénie entrusted several Slewinski paintings to the Primel family. In 1962, the two sisters, Jeanne Primel-Buffetaud and Marie-Louise Primel-Lagrange, donated some forty works to Polish museums. Today, we have the pleasure of auctioning three works from this prestigious collection, which have since been preserved by the descendants of the Primel family.
