HURTREL (Alice). Les Amours de Catherine de Bourbon Sister of the King and the Count of Soissons. - The Romanesque Adventures of a Count of Artois. According to an old manuscript, decorated with drawings, from the National Library. Paris: Georges Hurtrel, 1882-1883. - 2 works in 2 volumes in-16, 158 x 114: frontispiece, 216 pp. badly figured 218, 1 plate, illustrated cover; (4 ff.), VIII, 232 pp., printed cover. Red morocco, large gilded frame composed of wheels and compartments decorated with scrolls and a pierced heart, and WA mosaic figure in dark blue morocco and havana in the centre on the flats, decorated ribbed back, gilded lace framed inside, lining and endpapers in gilded moiré silk, double endpapers, gilded head, untrimmed , cover preserved (Hello). Very beautiful editions published by Alice Hurtrel. Les Amours de Catherine de Bourbon offers an excerpt from the work of Miss Caumont de La Force published in 1703 under the title Histoire secrète de Catherine de Bourbon, duchesse de Bar. The edition is illustrated with 2 etchings out of text by Adolphe Lalauze, one of which is in the frontispiece, 8 full-page two-tone figures and numerous thumbnails in the text. Les Aventures romanesques d'un comte d'Artois is the reinterpretation in modern French of a 15th century manuscript kept in the Bibliothèque Nationale. The edition is decorated with a frontispiece, chapter headings, letterheads and colored culs-de-lampe according to the drawings in the manuscript, as well as numerous black vignettes in Adrien Marie's text . Each copy is one of 40 numbered on japanese, numbered and signed by Alice Hurtrel. The two Lalauze etchings in Les Amours de Catherine de Bourbon, are in 2 states, before and with the letter. Superb copies in uniform bindings of Allô with the number AW, unidentified . Provenance: AW, with mosaic figure on the dishes. - André Mo
