LE RICHE (Henri) - MUSSET (Alfred de). Venice. [Paris: Henri Le Riche, 1928]. - In-4, 327 x 245: (16 ff.), 4 plates, illustrated cover. Dark blue morocco, dishes decorated with a symmetrical pattern consisting of four Venetian cold palines and black and grey morocco, separated by a recessed cold net, the lower part decorated with wide wavy bands symbolising waves, composed of palladium dots, on the first dish also appears the title 'Venice' made of letters composed of light blue and pink morocco scrolls, underlined with gold dots in the letters V and S, placed above the central separation and repeated identically symmetrically below, light blue morocco scroll surmounted by a band of gold dots running along the lower edge of the dishes and the back, cut in the centre of the dishes over 5.5 cm ; Dark blue morocco in frame inside, decorated with golden stitch fillets and stripes, black morocco stripes and cold motifs representing the top of 4 palines, green suede linings and guards, double guards, untrimmed, cover and back preserved, case (Pierre Legrain). Charming edition published and illustrated by Henri LE RICHE (1870-1944), comprising a bistre frame on almost every page, including the title and colophon, the Venice lion engraved in red on the full page at the head of the book, 7 coloured etchings, one on the full page and 6 in the text, and 4 black plates. Only 162 numbered copies of the edition were printed on Dutch Van Gelder paper, signed by the artist on colophon. The colophon is enriched with a black suite of the 11 etchings with remark. Superb copy in Pierre Legrain's binding . Back past and back again.
