July 19, 1842, to Mr. Maneille in L'Isle-Adam, to whom he brought tomatoes: "What an event since we saw each other, the future is not rosy, men of heart and energy will have to put their hand once again. So we won't be able to sleep easy, what a country dog... well, of the worst things we have to make the most of it"...
