BOFA (Gus). Embankments. With original etchings. Paris : Textes prétextes, [1951]. - In-4, 276 x 225 : 146 pp, (5 ff. last blank), illustrated cover. In leaves, publisher's folder and slipcase. First edition printed by Janine Daragnès, Gabriel's widow, printed at 250 copies on Arches vellum, plus 15 nominative copies, all signed by Gus BOFA (1883-1968) on the justification. This work is a collection of poems in prose by the artist who illustrated it with 42 original etchings including one on the cover, one on the title, one at the head of a chapter, 28 culs-de-lampe, and 11 full-page etchings among which 10 are in double state, the second with remarks. One of the 65 copies enriched with a suite of vignettes and culs-de-lampe on Malacca and 4 unused plates on Arches with remarks (n° 18). Enriched with the autograph manuscript of Solitude, the third poem of the collection, written in grease pencil on an in-4 sheet, without erasure, and 2 original etchings not used on Malacca, the first one being a cover design for the book. Also enclosed is an 8-page text by Pierre Mornand on Gus Bofa, extracted from a book, and a copy of the catalogue of the sale of the Gus Bofa workshop on October 20, 1969. scattered light spotting and staining to a few leaves . Minimal transfers of the full-page engravings.
