Alain BANCQUART (born 1934). Autograph musical... - Lot 172 - Ader
Alain BANCQUART (born 1934). Autograph musical manuscript, Strophes for mixed choir and 6 instruments, [1970]; [2]-59 leaves 37 x 27.5 cm. Cantata on poems by Marie-Claire Bancquart, the composer's wife. "This score was commissioned by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs for the Jean-Baptiste Lully Choirs, directed by Guy Morançon," Alain Bancquart wrote on the title page. A page of notes gives precise indications on the choir's stage movements, the position of the instrumentalists, the tuning of the strings, the interpretation of certain signs in the score, etc. The instrumental line-up includes a flute, a violin, a viola, a piano, and 2 percussionists (3 Saharan drums, tam-tam, cymbal, crotales, marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, and the piano strings). The work lasts twenty minutes and is in two parts: I "If you close your eyes, you no longer remember the sun"... Slow; II "Evilly when you speak to others"... Agitated, quite lively. The manuscript is carefully noted in Indian ink on 16-line tracing paper; small cuts at the bottom of some leaves to remove the paper mark before clichage for editing (Jobert, 1970).
