*FÉLIX VALLOTTON (1865-1925 )The Pursuit.... - Lot 75 - Ader
*FÉLIX VALLOTTON (1865-1925 )The Pursuit. (Page of the catalog Le Barc de Boutteville). 1893. Lithograph. 121 x 200 [152 x 240]. Vallotton and Goerg 43. Beautiful proof on thin buff vellum. Slightly missing in the lower left corner. Small fractures in two other corners, summarily restored on the reverse. Small loss along the right edge. All margins. Very rare. The gallery Le Barc de Bouteville was founded by Louis Léon Lebarc (1837-1897), who added the name and particle of his wife Marie-Blanche de Boutteville. An art lover, he received artists and critics in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, where he lived and had a mustard factory. He became an art dealer after his retirement, and undertook to defend avant-garde artists such as the Nabis. Located at 47 rue Le Peletier (Paris 9e), not far from the Durand-Ruel gallery and the headquarters of the Revue blanche, the gallery existed from 1891 to 1899. In 1893 it organized an exhibition of "impressionist and symbolist painters", each of whom contributed to the catalog by providing a lithograph announcing his or her exhibited works. The artists were Bonnard, M. Denis, Ibels, Mouclier, Ranson, Roussel, Sérusier, Vallotton and Vuillard. All lots in this sale are subject to an additional 5.5% temporary import tax. In the event of re-exportation outside the European Union, these charges may be refunded to the buyer.
