Officer's saber fancy model of second lieutenant Felix Ayrault, 6th infantry regiment. Horn handle (missing watermark). Nickel silver mounting. Five-point guard and shell on the breastplate. Flat-backed straight blade by "Bidal rue de Richelieu", counter-edge and hollow sides, engraved with scrolls and marked "FELIX AYRAULT 1er oct 1885", "je marcherai droit". Metal scabbard with a strap. Biography : Felix Ayrault (1862-1914) Student at the Lycée Saint Louis, he joined the special military school on October 30, 1883 . He was made second lieutenant on October 1, 1885, and assigned to the 6th infantry regiment. He became a lieutenant in October 1889, a captain in 1896, and a battalion commander in 1913, when he was assigned to the 129th RI . Wounded by a bullet, he entered the Villemin hospital in Paris on August 30, 1914. He died on September 1, 1914. Knight of the Legion of Honor (1909) and officer (1914).
