Pair of tailor's scissors, Iran qâjâr, 19th century Made of steel with long, slightly curved blades, the handle with a poly-lobed cut and two wide circular rings with a curved start, partly inlaid with gold. On one side, the central finial near the pivot gives an owner's name (Muhammad [?]) and an illegible date (12[?]) and is framed by the Arabic religious formula "Nasr min Allah wa fath qarib" ("With the help of Allah, victory is near"). On the reverse, Quranic inscription in the finial (Quran, Al-Fath, XLVIII, 1) and inscription seeming to give a signature on the branch. Length : 25,7 cm Elements of decoration erased.
