Miniature Qur'an, Iran qâjâr, signed and dated 1249 H / 1833 Small manuscript on paper of nineteen lines per page in Arabic in naskhi calligraphy with black ink in reserve on a gold background. Manuscript introduced by two double pages illuminated with gold and polychrome, the first one decorated with two poly-lobed medallions with appendages painted in blue and inscribed in reserve with a prayer on a hatayi background of flowers and saz leaves, the second one constituting the double-frontispiece in unwâns surmounted by mantling trimmed with a blue finial and flowers, the Fatiha and the beginning of the second sura al-Baqqara inscribed in reserve on a gold background. Titles of the suras inscribed in cartouches illuminated in gold and polychrome, and small medallions and long cartouches inscribed in Persian illuminated in the margins. Colophon giving the name of the copyist Muhammad Baqir al-Shirazi and the date 1249 AH / 1833. Bound in papier-mâché painted and lacquered with a floral decoration of roses and eglantines in full bloom and in bud on the boards, of narcissus probably later on the back covers. Red leather case. Dim. binding : 11,3 x 7,5 cm ; dim. total : 14 x 8,5 cm One binding plate detached, later comments, wear and tear, back covers probably repainted, light stains and wear.
