Tile with floral decoration, Ottoman Turkey, Iznik, second half of the 16th century Element of a siliceous ceramic cover plate with polychrome painted decoration under transparent glaze of fine scrolls decorated with large blooming composite flowers, small flowers in bud and saz leaves on a blue background. The decoration is framed by a red band and bordered on one side by an incomplete frieze of palms. 24 x 23,4 cm Tile cut, small chips and enamel jumps. Provenance: Spink & Son, London, April 3, 2000. This incompletely decorated tile was part of a larger floral composition. A very similar tile sold at Christie's London on April 26, 2012, lot 261. An Ottoman Iznik Fritware Tile, Turkey, 2nd half of the 16th century Private collection from Paris from 1975 to 2000 - first part (lots 120 to 173).
