The Siege of the Island of Ré (lower left part). 1629-1631. Etching. 430 x 565. Lieure 654. Beautiful proof on ivory laid paper, of the 2nd state (of 3), the duke of Richelieu erased between the King and his brother Gaston d'Orléans, before the letter E in the upper right, oxidized, trimmed to the plate cut. Horizontal drying fold in the middle. Several tears and accidents at the edges of the folio, summarily consolidated on the reverse. Very rare according to Lieure.
