FRENCH WORK CIRCA 1880 The Chinese Temple Rare and important terminal clock in the Chinese style. The gilded bronze structure evokes the bamboo section. The skirted base, resting on rhizome-like feet, is decorated with cloisonné enamel plates featuring lotus and foliage motifs. The glass cage houses a dial with bronze winged dragon motifs and cloisonné enamel numerals evoking Chinese characters. The glass sides are painted with floral and geometric motifs and set in cloisonné enamel plates. The pagoda roof is made of bronze with openwork and engraved geometric motifs. Complete with original gilded bronze serpent and winged dragon hands. The original movement case and visible parts of the mechanism with engraved motifs. Circa 1880. Used condition, accidents and missing cloisonné enamels, notably on the plate on the right side of the base, a cracked glass plate on the left side of the cage. The movement is stamped VINCENTI & Cie - Médaille d'argent 1855 on the back. Height: 45 cm - Length: 30 cm - Depth: 21 cm
