*Jozef Peeters (1895-1960) XVII Linocuts 1920-1925. Mesure éd., Paris, 1962. A large in-fol. album containing 17 linocut subjects, preceded by 3 sheets of printed text. Very beautiful and fresh prints on white vellum, in leaves. All margins. Numbered copy, from a print run at 250. Cardboard wallet of the edition. "The most prominent of these engravers[in Flanders] was Jozef Peeters (1895-1960) who, with Michel Seuphor, directed the magazine "Het Overzicht" in Antwerp from 1922 to 1925, one of the first in the world to defend abstract art . The following seventeen linocuts are a selection of his engraved work from this period. We will first find there a certain influence of Kandinsky, then a certain influence of the pure Dutch plastic of which Peeters, who knew Mondrian in 1921, was looking for a relaxation. " (Mr. Bilcke, preface to the album).
