[ CHUCKLES ] Paris Monday, [Tuesday , Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday]. Paris, 20 October 1852-27 April 1853. - 402 fascicles of 2 ff. bound in 4 volumes in-folio, 420 x 301. Red half-shell with corners, gilt "Jounal de Paris" in the centre of the plates, spine with decorated ribbing , speckled edges (period binding). Almost complete collection of the first literary daily newspaper in the history of the press. It was a satirical newspaper based on the model of the Charivari, but purely literary, founded by Count Pierre-Charles de Villedeuil, a cousin of the Goncourt family. The main collaborators were the Goncourt brothers, Alphonse Karr, Alexandre Dumas fils, Théodore de Banville, Aurélien Scholl, Henry Murger and Xavier de Montépin. There are several pre-original editions, including Les Lorettes des frères Goncourt and Le Voyage autour d'un four by Alexandre Dumas fils. This daily newspaper included 408 issues published from October 20, 1852 to December 8, 1853. They are numbered from 1 to 410 but there is a numbering error between July 2 and 3, 1853, from 253 to 252. There are a total of 403 fascicles of 2 sheets, as 5 are double issues (157/158, 196/197, 206/207, 296/297 and 374/375). Some issues have had 2 editions; as indicated on the first page, the second edition appeared at 10:00 a.m. Each issue is illustrated with a woodcut composition at the head of the first page and an original full-page lithograph up to no. 128 and three-quarter page from no. 129 onwards. More than 300 of these lithographs are unpublished works by Gavarni. Others are signed Quillenbois, Lefils, Randon, etc.. Numbers 405, 408 and 410 contain 10, 7 and 6 woodcuts in the text, respectively . Almost complete copy of all issues in the first edition. Only the number 103 of January 31, 1853 is missing, as is the case in several copies that we found. A copy in contemporary bind
