CHAPRONT (Henry) - KIPLING (Rudyard). The Most Beautiful Story in the World. Translated from the English with permission of the Author by Louis Fabulet and Robert d'Humière. Paris: René Kieffer, 1919. - In-8, 238 x 181 : (2 ff. white), 92 pp., (2 ff.), printed cover. Black morocco, dishes decorated with two parallel vertical stripes composed of cold and mosaic motifs of orange morocco in the form of identical polygons, starting from the upper edge and descending over three quarters of the dishes, from which 21 wavy golden fillets emerge, horizontal stripes of orange morocco on the bottom of the dishes passing through the back, golden title and mosaic of orange morocco in the centre of the first dish, between the two vertical stripes ; smooth back decorated with golden fillets, extension of the fillets of the dishes, black and orange morocco frames inside, decorated with two frames of two golden fillets, lining and endpapers of golden orange silk, double endpapers, untrimmed, cover and back preserved, case (Pierre Legrain). Edition of 550 copies, this one of the 500 on laid in the shape of Arches paper mills . A unique copy, comprising in place of the illustrations by Henri Dethomas, 20 original drawings enhanced with watercolours by the painter and illustrator Henry CHAPRONT (1876-1965), including one on the title, 3 in the text and 16 full-page. All drawings, except those on pages 19 and 21, are signed by the artist. Precious copy bound by Pierre Legrain, perfectly preserved.
