ZAÑARTU (Enrique) - BUTOR (Michel). Meeting. - Lot 314
ZAÑARTU (Enrique) - BUTOR (Michel). Meeting. Paris: Éditions du Dragon; Stockholm: Herman Igell, 1962. - Large folio, 648 x 500: (16 ff. 2 first and 2 last blanks). In sheets, with an illustrated brown cloth cover and an illustrated publisher's slipcase . Rare original edition, printed in only 55 copies on Rives vase, illustrated with 5 original full-page etchings by the Franco-Chilean painter Enrique ZAÑARTU (1921-2000). This work is of great importance in the rich bibliography of Bitter's illustrated works since it is the very first book he made with a painter. He recalled this in an interview with Pierre Caran: "The first book I made with a painter dates from 1962. He is a Chilean painter, a friend of Matta's, whose name is Enrique Zañartu, who lives in Paris now. He had made a set of five coloured etchings, very beautiful. A painting dealer we knew had the idea of making a book with these engravings, and he asked me for a text. I thought about it and so I made this text called Rencontre" (13 artists with Michel Butor , 1997, p. 32). ONE OF THE FIRST 5 COPIES ENRICHED WITH A GREAT ORIGINAL DRAWING SIGNED BY ZAÑARTU. The justification is signed by Michel Butor alone. Copy enriched with a copy signed by Zañartu of the catalogue of the artist's exhibition which took place from 22 October to 16 November 1991 in Santiago de Chile, an autograph postcard, and 6 greeting cards each decorated with an original engraving by the artist, signed and signed by the artist.
