Paris: Barba, André, year seven[1799]. - 2 volumes in-12, granite calf, gilded net on the edges of the dishes, smooth back decorated, yellow slices (binding from the early 19th century). Very rare first edition of this Gothic novel attributed to Chaussier and Bizet, published under the false name of Ann Radcliffe, the famous novelist of black novels . The illustration consists of 2 frontispieces engraved by Bovinet after Challiou . Incomplete copy of pages 94 to 99 in the second volume, replaced by photocopies of the missing passage . Rubbing and some epidermis on the bindings.
