Saint Jerome with an ivory donor carved in the round. Standing, the holy hermit holds the staff of a cross (now disappeared) in his right hand and places his other hand on the head of the young donor kneeling at his feet, hands joined; he is wearing the cardinal's hat put on the hood of the mantle with open sleeves letting the arms pass through ; long chinstrap chinstrap with knots falling on the chest; at his feet and to his left, the tamed lion sitting upright along his legs; beautifully draped clothes forming rough and broken folds in the front and V-shaped superimposed in the back. Beautiful quality of execution. Upper Rhine . First half of the 16th century. (A few small slits especially in the back). H : 18 cm
